In the new bike directions thing does it just consider a constant speed and divide by the distance or does it consider hills; and what is the average speed it assumes for a bike? How fast does Google maps assume bicycling is?
The average speed of a biker is about 10 miles an hour, but Google Maps will adjust the speed calculation depending on grade level (how steep the hill is) of the path.
Also just an FYI, Google Maps will try to take advantage of any bike paths it knows off that could be used for the route.
