I'm not looking for the results from Google Maps or Yahoo or Mapquest. There are multiple options for getting from NY to VT (roads, bridges, ferries) and I'm looking for suggestions about the best route to take (speed, ease of travel, aesthetics). What are the best driving directions from Albany NY to Burlington VT?
When we went, we drove up Route 7, but it was winter and the ferries were not running. If I went any other season, I would probably go up Rt. 87 to Rt. 9 to Keesevilee and take the Ferry to Vermont. We have also taken the Route that takes you through Glenns Falls, NY and on to Rutland, VT. That route is kind of scenic. What are the best driving directions from Albany NY to Burlington VT?
The ferries can be a pain sometimes (especially if you just miss one), although they are nice if you have the time.
If speed is your main issue, take 87 north to 149/9L to north on 4/22 to Rutland. Then take 7 north to Burlington. This route takes you through Vermont, so it is definitely aesthetic.
